By now many of you know a heated debate which has been going on for some months escalated out of control recently.
It was, and continues to be a Very. Serious. Issue.
Namely:
that white chocolate deserves its place in the chocolate family and should be discriminated against no more.
In fact the whole matter got so out of hand recently, that battle-lines were drawn, gauntletts were flung down and a corporation bigger and more powerful than us stepped in to bring it to an end.
They proposed a duel of sorts.
A blogging duel. Involving free chocolate. It was like a dream come true.
My team-mate
Cate and I have argued for an approach to chocolate that teaches diversity and tolerance.
However, in fairness to my opponents, you can read their opening arguments
here.
Or you can listen to an awesome anthem by the fabulous Thea
here.
Or you can listen to Kerri and I duke it out
here. Heartfelt thanks to Carol for putting up with us on her radio show which we so shamelessly hijacked today.
Cate and I will be presenting our earth shattering posts on the subjects next week for Coles Online.
But I wanted to say this.
In the past week, I have laughed more than I have laughed in a long time.
I have giggled hysterically over the tweets flying across the airwaves, the DM's that have popped up and the hilarious and totally unprintable emails that have been flying back and forth.
My husband and I have spent happy times reading together and also eating chocolate (in the line of research)
And Kerri and Kylie while I could not disagree with you more, I thank you, I thank Cate, Heath, Carol, my fantastic vice-captains Lisa and Kris and all the wonderful people on Twitter for the best victory of all.
A sore stomach from laughing too much.

This post will not shift my neutrality. #Chocwars is larger than us all.
I love Top Deck because it's got both milk and white chocolate on it.
That being said my absolute no questions asked FAVOURITE chocolate OF ALL TIME is Green & Blacks White Chocolate, it is just divine.
I shall be asking the chocolate question on my blog and linking back to you...
I didn't know there was such important debate occuring! I'll have to check it out! :)
Team Dark Side will conquer. Darth Vader didn't have 70 per cent cocoa on his team. As Yoda would say: "Ohhh. Great Warrior. Wars not make one great." True chocolate make one great.
Thank you so much for the link!! xxx
This war is so funny.
I'm with Miss Ruby, Top Deck, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm :)
This is SO true! (Apart from the bit about white choc being real choc). I have laughed myself silly duing the choc wars so far- for all our vitriol and choc supremacism, I really couldn't have asked for funnier, better opponents than Cate and yourself. When all this is over we shall sit and end eat Top Deck together (though my fabulous collaborator Kerri and I will spit out the white bits, of course).

Milk chocolate is my fave, but only if cut with turkish delight, peppermint or macadamias. Otherwise Lindt dark chocolate - cruncy caramel, or chilli - drive me wild!
Not my fave, the white choc variety but it's team #allchoc all the way from these quarters. I'm thrilled it's given you such joy. It's given me a grin or five too to watch your childlike duelling. :)
You're an absolute champion, and of course now officially my hero.
Next time I have a disagreement with my hubby I might get you on the phone for backup :)
xo
I love white chocolate, I did not realize it was not part of the chocolate family :) I even order a white chocolate mocha from Starbucks.
Laughing is awesome, I love to laugh when I do. It always makes me feel better :)
