But they didn't.
And I didn't get alot of sleep.
So I woke this morning feeling distinctly unrefreshed and out of sorts.
Two coffees and a couple of jellybeans later we were out the door. Did I mention the Offspring were still fast asleep?
We met my parents and headed into town for the funrun.
I love the atmosphere at a funrun. It's like the best party in town.
The run itself was surprisingly good.
About 9km in when I really started to hurt I fell in sync with a girl in a red tank top. She and I matched each other pace for pace the remaining 5km. I don't know her name but she is one of my favourite people today.
The run itself was brilliantly organised and the course was quite flat so kudos to the organisers.
I think my time was okay. Not awesome or newsworthy, but okay. I'll know for sure later this week.
Next up is training for a half marathon.
But just for today
I appreciated the support I got preparing for this very much, so thank you as well.
And because doing my affirmations worked so well last week, I am going to make it a weekly thing for me. I'd love it if you joined in if you can. I like reading other people's lists because it helps me add to my list or is a gentle reminder of things I could do too.
This week I will:
-be gentle on myself
- meet my article deadline
-catch up on my emails (apologies if one of them is from you)
- have a date with Husband
-get kitten 2 desexed
-bake a meal for a friend
Now what about you?

Regardless of the time - you are a superstar!!
Very proud of you for the run - amazed even - I couldn't do it. And for planning one ahead - love the affirmation idea but may leave it a wee while as am not sure I'd do them, then feel worse (bleh) I love "be gentle on yourself..brilliant idea.
xoxo
I agree, it was very well run and great atmosphere and weather.
Whoa... you're amazing. Thanks for inspiring us all Sarah! (Oh, and I'm so with you on the be-gentle-with-yourself thing this week.)
You rock! Congratulations on the run. I am in awe.
Affirmations for this week:
- Don't make as many as last week so I don't end up feeling like I failed.
- Steal Sarah's and be kind to myself
- Send out all my invoices by Wed so I don't have to stress out at the end of the month about bills.
The end.
Well done! You did great! I know I wouldn't have been able to run that 14km! :)
My affirmations this week:
- post out what I had to LAST week!
- finally start sewing the scarves I've been collecting fabric for (procrastinating as usual)
- help friend video her book review
- have lunch with a friend
- hope that I do at least two on this list!
I am going to go back and read last week's affirmation, and attempt to stick to it this week. I am going to take my abilities a little more seriously. I am going to use my evil powers for good!

Sarah, you rock. I've never been a runner, but I'm in awe of those who do love running.
I, however, love yoga and this week my goal is to do a backbend from standing (called a dropback) and then standing up from said backbend.
I need to do this by Friday bc after that, I'm hoping to be pregnant and won't be able to practice for at least two weeks...whilst I wait to see whether I am.
Ooooh, there's another goal. To get pregnant this week.
This was great help to me last week... I achieved my three affirmations knowing that h=they were out there in blog land.
I too am going to steal one of your this week... so here goes -
Be gentle to myself.
Stick to my wheat free diet
Remember that I am running for myself, not against anyone.
Have coffee with friends.
I will bow done before you for running 14km today. That is all
Well done xxx
Congratulations on the run! You are so amazing, I couldn't dream of doing something like that.
Take care of yourself this week
Oh well done well done! And next the 1/2 marathon? Even more well done! xx
One day I want to run, too.
Can you teach me?
I'm so pleased I did all of my affirmations from last week. So here's this week's...
Wash the curtains & clean the mildew off the blinds.
Play the piano and/or read every day.
(And I'm pinching Naomie's) Remember to go wheat free!
WEll done! What an achievement. I'd have an issue running 0.4kms, let alone 14kms! Fantastic.
Congratulations on such a great achievement. I saw all the runners while I was in the car with husband trying to get to the OTHER SIDE OF THE RIVER (You know, like south) and went bonkers from all the road closures!
I just wanted to say I was here.. I won't be doing any magnificent things. I will be happy if I can wake up each day and not cry.. And I will be happy if I make it to the gym 3 more times...? Well done on your run Sarah, soo proud.. U really are amazing...
